Abstract

School Based Teacher Development programme (SBTD)- Transforming Classroom Practices (TCP) is a key dimension of UNRWA’s Education Reform Strategy. The programme seeks to improve teaching and learning practices in the UNRWA classroom through developing interactive pedagogies or ways of teaching that
will engage children more effectively in their learning. The SBTD is paving the way for comprehensive in-service training for all UNRWA teachers. There are six Open and Distance Learning modules and each of these focus on different aspects of teaching and learning that together provide an overview of many different approaches and ways to develop quality teaching and learning in UNRWA Schools. The text modules are interactive and ask the teacher to reflect on their practices, try new approaches and consider the impact they have on the children’s learning and motivation.
